Public engagement in research, participatory societal experiences and collective policy recommendations

Citizen science refers to the general public engagement in science where thousands of people are contributing with their personal devices and knowledge to improve the way science is done. This open, participatory and inclusive approach is gaining force in all the corners of Europe thanks to the massive use of new technologies and it presents a great potential addressing the European challenges. This conference is a great opportunity to see the whole picture and the last trends interacting with an outstanding set of key policy makers, project leaders as well as individuals from grassroots projects who will present their their vision and best practices.

This event is organized by Socientze, a coordination and support action funded by the European Commission with the goals of mapping, analyzing and coordinating the citizen science community in Europe and beyond. In this conference, Socientize will present a key document for the policy making which will be used as facilitator for the open debate: the new White Paper on Citizen Science for Europe, a set of policy recommendations created collectively by hundreds of actors from the citizen science community finding new paths of enhanced research and social innovations that respond to the need of paradigm swift in which we are engaged.
